Andy-BaileyOver the last ten seasons Andy Bailey has used Clovertone Plant Food 5-4-11 on his 80ha farm on the Canterbury Plains.  Applied at 10 litres/ha six to eight times each season, Andy puts the plant food in with other sprays to keep production costs down.

“Leaf and general plant health are really good throughout the year,” said Andy.  “But it’s the way the crop stores that impresses me most.  The bins still pack out at 750-800Kg after six months of storage – the same weight as they are straight out of the ground.”

“Crop quality is also consistently good with even-shaped and sized potatoes, which is important for export and local markets.”

Since the first application of Clovertone’s Plant Food on the farm, Andy has seen an average yield increase of around 20%.  “We use the plant food little and often.  You have to have good soil fertility to get good yields and the plant food keeps crops growing by topping up the nutrients.”
